Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has kept fans guessing with extensive world-building, a colorful mix of characters, and a gripping narrative including celestial beings, fiends, and dark forces expanding in influence within the city.
Warning: Revealing details for the latest installment of Campaign 4 are included.
The Soldiers Table Introduced
The third episode finished on a major cliffhanger and revealed the first table of characters who will split off from the primary party to undertake their own adventure, apart from the other two tables.
The combat-focused team includes Teor (portrayed by Travis Willingham), the agile character (Laura), the fierce warrior (Whitney), Wicander (Sam Riegel), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie Daymond).
The Reason for Division
Considering a large ensemble, it was evident from the outset that keeping everyone at a single group would be impossible.
That’s why, the first four episodes of this story serve as an Prelude, connecting the personal journeys before branching into three separate parties: Soldiers, Strategists, and Seekers.
What Defines the Combat Party
Per the Dungeon Master, the Soldiers table is for participants who enjoy a traditionally charged combat and conflict-driven narrative style where non-violent answers are scarce.
Upon first impression, figures such as the reluctant priest the cleric might seem out of place, but the events of episode 3 show why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the combat party.
Why They Must Go
First, the party knows exactly where to go next after a violent initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.
An old friend of Thjazi Fang—whose demise started the narrative’s action—used The Crow Keepers for his own means, breaking into the hidden lair, assaulting the character, and stealing all the magical artifacts to auction.
The traitor then settled his obligations and ran away to a fortified location in the remote area, north of the city, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.
Personal Motivations
Moreover, each member has a personal reason to exit the urban setting:
- The agile hero, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, desires retribution.
- Kattigan has experience in the region and cautions that it is a hostile environment.
- The strong character and The cleric, having resisted his relatives’ demands to execute the target and instead freed him, have no other options.
- But, their position as prominent individuals in the powerful family could help the party access places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Furthermore, The grateful character vowed a eternal obligation to The cleric for his rescue and will now follow him everywhere.
Fugitives
Finally, all of them are wanted by the authorities that control the city for a variety of reasons, making staying in the city no longer safe:
- Thimble and Kattigan are known criminals.
- The strong figure and The cleric betrayed the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are aligned with.
- The target is targeted for elimination by the clan.
This means them no alternative but to journey toward the remote area in search of the traitor.
What’s Next?
Based on the latest episode’s Cooldown, we discover that the warrior group won’t be around the following episode, leaving the other eight players to assemble the Explorers and Schemers groups.
Fans can expect finding out which adventurers will be in which group in the story’s final introductory chapter, released on the upcoming Thursday.
